I had been teaching primarily Seniors who live in large communities. These adults benefited from keeping their brains as active as possible which helps to ward off brain fog and lack of purpose. Once millennials showed an interest in learning the game, Mah Jongg teachers showed up at Recreation Centers, Libraries and other community venues to help the new generation become proficient at this game. I have taught in all of these places, and find it extremely rewarding to teach the newer generations what Seniors have found so fascinating all these years. My style is based on giving each student as much time and attention as they need to absorb the information. I give hand outs which are used in class and then taken home as well. After taking our first lesson, students are able to accurately build Mah Jongg hands from the current NMJL card, leading the way to be able to play at a high level and have fun to boot!
