Overview
Founded in 2014, the World Riichi Championship has built the premier international mahjong championship for amateur and professional players alike. The WRC ruleset is the first international ruleset to be certified for competition play by authorities in Japan, Europe, and the Americas. The championship rotates between host cities worldwide, with past events in Las Vegas (2017), Paris, Vienna, and Tokyo (2025). New York City is set to host in 2028.
